Tips for Travelling Between

Land and Sea.

Memories with the scent of Oman.

"Wandering around the alleys of the gold souk and the antique shops of Mutrah was a unique emotion. You can find jewellery, daggers, masks and even coffee shops! And the silver? In Oman, it was a readily available resource, so much so that the thalers of Maria Theresa of Austria were melted in these workshops! Not to mention gold: here it is still sold by weight! Being a textile enthusiast, then, I was fascinated by the colourful keffiyehs and kufis, the typical caps with exquisite embroidery. It is impossible not to talk about Oman without mentioning dates: I discovered that there are more than 250 varieties! Sweet, fragrant, offered everywhere... the Nizwa souk is the ideal place to stock up on these wonderful fruits. What about Omani incense? It is so prized around the world that it is a UNESCO heritage, but by then only a small terracotta burner fit in the suitcase (Ed. laughs)!” Fabio, Gold member
